Franklin Township: The Past, the Present, and the Future

Presenter: John Fleshman, President and CEO of Fleshman Photography, Franklin Township Trustee

Franklin Township is one of the oldest townships in Ohio, as well as one of the biggest. Formed in 1803, Franklin Township has seen a lot of land annexed into the City of Columbus, which makes it difficult to stay a township, and it makes the cost of living increase every time we lose property to the City of Columbus.

Come hear one solution that could help.

Abraham Lincoln's Three Visits to the Ohio Statehouse

Presented by Dayna Jalkanen - Deputy Director of Museum and Education at the Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board

This talk will focus on Abraham Lincoln’s three visits to Columbus, specifically his times at the Ohio Statehouse. In a span of only six years, Columbus witnessed Lincoln’s rising political star reaching the highest position achievable in the United States, only to come crashing down with his untimely death at the hand of an assassin’s bullet. The brand-new Ohio Statehouse, completed in 1861, was the site of important moments in Lincoln’s history. Lincoln continues to impact the Ohio Capitol building to this day.
